Tarang’23, LSR
CATEGORY: Content Creation
01. Introduction
Initial Engagement
Contact and Objectives:
– Introduced through a mutual friend, we learned that LSR hadn’t had an aftermovie in six years so there were no expectations for it. However, they wanted to introduce a memorable visual experience that attendees could cherish.
Planning and Preparation
Initial Coordination:
– Coordination: Despite chaotic planning and last-minute agreements, we coordinated with media heads Shivangi and her co-head, who facilitated our comprehensive coverage.
– Challenges: LSR’s women-only policy allowed only one male team member on campus. Yash, our founder, took on the task solo.
Event Coverage
Yash covered the festival single-handedly, carrying all necessary equipment, including:
– Sony A74 with 16-35mm lens
– Sony A7C with 28-70mm & 70-200mm lenses
– Canon 200 D with 18-55 & 55-200mm Lenses
– DJI RS2 gimbal
– Capturing not just the performances but also the audience’s reactions was a key focus to deliver a complete experience.
02. Challenges Faced
– Rain on the first day forced the cancellation of a concert, reducing the coverage time further.
– Managing gear, batteries, memory, and safety, along with lack of breaks and long commute times, added to the physical exhaustion due to lack of breaks and long commutes were significant hurdles.
– Despite these, Yash’s commitment and adrenaline drove him to capture essential moments.
Feedback and Appreciation:
We received valuable feedback and appreciation from performers like Dream Note, Aerro, Ravator, and Ashish Solanki.
Post-Production
Editing Process:
– To engage the audience, we decided to create two films: a trailer and the main aftermovie.
– The trailer featured a retro Bollywood song to resonate with the LSR audience’s love for classic Bollywood.
– The aftermovie included a blend of EDM and retro film SFX, with seamless cuts and slow-motion shots to enhance the cinematic experience.
Deliverables and Outcomes
Final Product:
– The aftermovie was designed to keep viewers hooked for the entire three-minute duration.
– Upon sharing the trailer with the LSR team, they were initially sceptical but were thrilled upon viewing it, leading to widespread excitement and anticipation for the aftermovie.
– The final aftermovie received positive feedback, numerous shares, and direct messages from viewers eager to see the full video.
Impact and Reflection
Promotion for Tarang’24:
– The aftermovie significantly boosted LSR’s promotional efforts for Tarang’24, resulting in more collaborations and greater engagement compared to previous years.
Team Experience and Learnings:
– The project underscored the importance of adaptability and resilience in overcoming unexpected challenges.
– It reinforced the value of thorough research and understanding the audience to create content that resonates deeply.
Future Improvements:
– While the project was successful, future endeavours could benefit from more robust pre-event planning and contingencies for unforeseen restrictions.
